May 15: Da Vinci Code author to be featured in live streaming program, 6:30pm at the Stillwater Public Library. The event, “An Evening of Codes, Symbols, and Secrets,” will be Dan Brown’s only appearance for the release of his new book, “Inferno,” which will out on May 14. Brown will discuss the new novel, along with issues of science, religion, codes, book publishing, movie making, and a few surprise topics. The event will be shown on the library’s new video conferencing equipment received through a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries last year. May 15 – 16: Food Labeling Workshop, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Food & Agricultural Products Center, 2nd Floor, OSU Campus. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Regulatory Affairs and the Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center will hold a public Food Labeling Workshop to provide information about FDA food labeling regulations and other related subjects to the regulated industry, particularly small businesses and startups. Topics to be discussed at the workshop include; (1)Mandatory label elements, (2) Nutrition labeling requirements, (3) Health and nutrition claims, (4) Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004, and (5) Special labeling issues such as exemptions. Registration: Cost: $400 – A $25 fee will be billed to those who fail to cancel or attend. Parking, lunch, snacks, and a workbook are included in the cost. A certificate will be presented to each participant upon completion of the workshop. Seats are limited. Course space will be filled in order of receipt of registration. Those accepted into the course will receive confirmation. Registration will close after the course is filled. Join the Texas Map Society in Stillwater, Oklahoma, as this year’s theme, “Indian Territory Maps: The Early Years” will be co-sponsored by OSU’s Edmon Low Library and the Texas Map Society. Registration will be handled by the Texas Map Society. Friday will consist of a bus trip to Enid, OK to visit the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage center followed by an evening at the Edmon Low Library with a presentation and tour.
